Vera Buckley KLESA, 98, of Las Vegas, NV, formerly of Wellsville, NY, died January 29, 2025 in Las Vegas.
Born December 30, 1926, in Karlsruhe, Germany, she was the daughter of Bruno and Lina Neidig Weickart. Vera came to America as the military spouse of John B. Buckley and was a 45-year resident of Wellsville, NY. Prior to moving to the Southern tier in 1966, Vera lived in Germany for a total of 10 years. She also resided throughout the United States, including Hawaii prior to statehood. On February 7, 1987, Vera married Frederick G. Klesa of Coudersport, PA, in the Good Samaritan Lutheran Church of Las Vegas. Fred passed away December 5, 2009 at age 93 due to illness. Vera died of natural causes at age 98 after two years of private care in Las Vegas. Vera spent her youth in Karlsruhe and was the second oldest sibling. She was closest to her sister, Wilma, only a year and a half younger. Vera survived her two brothers and six sisters. Two of Vera's sisters also lived in America therefore she has extended family throughout the United States. She is survived by many nieces and nephews in Germany whom she visited many times over the years. Vera had an active lifestyle, enjoying exercise, dancing, and traveling. She was an excellent gardener and cook, preserving much of her bounty. She was an avid reader and participated in many arts and crafts classes. Vera escaped many winters by visiting family in Las Vegas.
Surviving are: a daughter, Florence (Gerald) LaRoy, nee Buckley; and a grandson, Jeffrey LaRoy. In addition to her first and second husbands, she was predeceased by a daughter, Patty M. Lascelle, nee Buckley, on May 13, 2022.
A graveside service will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, October 11, 2025 in Fairlawn Cemetery, Scio, NY.
