William C. "Bud" BARBER

William C. "Bud" BARBER, 78, of Andrews Settlement, PA, died Saturday, October 24, 2015 surrounded by his loving family in Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester, NY. Born January 15, 1937, in Coudersport, PA, he was the son of Selin C. and M. Lowanna Slingerland Barber. A 1955 graduate of Northern Potter High School, he served honorably with the US Navy from 1955--1959. On January 25 1964, in Sacred Heart Church, Genesee, PA, he married the former Theresa Smith, who survives. He was employed by Air Preheater in Wellsville, NY for 35 years. Bud was an avid golfer and hunter. He loved reading, bowling, cars, his home, neighborhood, family, and friends. An active lifelong member of the community, Bud coached Genesee area baseball teams for years and was instrumental in building the Genesee Little League field, which exists to this day. Surviving besides his wife, Theresa, are: three children, Mary Ellen (Ward) Craft of Wellsville, NY, William (Corinne) Barber of New York, NY, and Kathleen Barber of Albany, NY; two grandchildren, Derek Folts of Albany, NY and Crystal Craft of Lubbock, TX; a brother, Vernon H. Barber of Andrews Settlement; a sister, Patricia Ingalls of Shinglehouse, PA; an aunt, Helen Howland of Port Allegany, PA; nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by an infant granddaughter, Darcy Folts; a nephew, Vernon H. Barber, II; and a brother-in-law, Alwin Ingalls. Friends may call Friday, October 30, 2015 from 4:00 - 7:00 PM at the Olney Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Ulysses, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 AM, Saturday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Genesee, PA, with the Rev. Joseph Dougherty as Celebrant. Burial will be in Andrews Settlement Cemetery. Military Rites will be accorded by members of the Potter County Honor Guard.
