Bill was a 1948 graduate of Wellsville High School. He was first employed at Bausch & Lomb in Wellsville, before enlisting with the United State s Navy. He served in the Navy from 1951 to 1954 aboard the U.S.S. Coral Sea. Upon his honorable discharge he began his career as a Senior Land Agent for Consolidated Gas Corporation of Westfield, PA for 33 years, retiring in 1989. He was a life member of the Wellsville Elks Lodge 1495 , and the Morrison Hayes Post 702 American Legion in Wellsville.
In additi on to his wife Barb, he is survived by a son, Damon Davis and his f iancé , Danielle Osgood, both of Wellsville , two granddaughters, Elaini and Margaret , a great-grandson , Cooper , a sister, Mary Moll of Macedon; a daughter-in-law, Dawn M. Avnet of Scio, as well as several nieces and nephews, including Peg Peet of Wellsville , who was very close to her uncle Bill over the years. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Gary Allen Davis , two brothers, Arthur and James Gordon , and a nephew, James Gordon.
A Mass of Christ ian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 14, 2023 , at 11:00 am in the Immaculate Conception Church , 36 Maple Avenue in Wellsville .
