Leo C. BUCHEIT

March 13, 1932 — October 10, 2021

Leo C. BUCHEIT, 89, of Coudersport, PA, died Sunday, October 10, 2021 in UPMC Cole, Coudersport with his loving family by his side.

Born March 13, 1932, in St. Marys, he was the son of William and Emma Goetz Bucheit.  He was a graduate of Mt. Jewett High School.  A Korean War Veteran, he served honorably with the U.S. Air Force from 1952 – 1956.  On November 6, 1965, in Coudersport, he married the former Elizabeth J. “Libby” Tauscher, who predeceased him on February 11, 2017.  They were blessed to have spent 51 years together.  Leo owned and operated a grocery store and filling station, Leo’s Sales and Service, for 13 years and was employed by the PennDOT for 30 years.  Leo was a devout member of St. Eulalia Catholic Church in Coudersport and the Knight of Columbus Council #1355 in Coudersport.  He was also a member of American Legion Potter Post #192 in Coudersport and Austin Memorial VFW Post #7810 in Austin.  Often seen in the bleachers, he was a faithful fan at the sporting endeavors of his grandchildren.

Surviving are:  four daughters, Julia Ann (Michael) Markowski of Mountain Top, PA, Jennifer Sue (Trevor) Saulter of Coudersport, Sonia Lyn (Jason) Villanti of Boca Raton, FL, and Carol Lee Bucheit of Coudersport;  six grandchildren, Joshua (Katelyn) Bucheit, Brian Markowski, Ethan Markowski, Emma Saulter, Madison Villanti, and Leo Villanti;  one great-grandson, Sawyer Hayes Bucheit;  nieces and nephews.  In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by five siblings, Andrew Bucheit, Willis Bucheit, Kay Tasillo, Edna Garell, and Dorothy Rodell.

Friends may call at St. Eulalia Church, Coudersport on Friday, October 15, 2021 from 10:00 – 11:00 AM, with a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial following at 11:00 AM.  Interment and committal will be in Sweden Hill Cemetery, Coudersport.

Memorials may be made to St. Eulalia Catholic Church, 6 E. Maple St., Coudersport, PA 16915.
