Theodore "Cub" RANSOM

November 13, 1938 — March 27, 2022

  Theodore J. “Cub” RANSOM, 83, of Cowanesque, PA, died Sunday, March 27, 2022 in UPMC Williamsport.  

A gathering to celebrate Cub’s life will be held Sunday, July 24, 2022 from 4:00 – 6:00 PM at the Home Comfort Restaurant.  Military Rites will be accorded by members of the Tioga County Honor Guard.  

  Born November 13, 1938, in Wellsville, NY, he was the son of Homer and Hattie Skutt Ransom.  On September 25, 1965, in Cowanesque, he married the former Brenda Earl, who survives.  A graduate of Northern Potter High School, he served honorably with the U.S. Army.  He was self-employed carpenter and owned and operated Home Comfort Restaurant in Westfield.  Cub was a member of the Cowanesque United Methodist Church, Crary Hose Company in Westfield, Westfield Rod & Gun Club, and volunteered with the PA Fish Commission.  

  Surviving besides his wife, Brenda, are:  a daughter, Daphne (Paul) Zelinka of Westfield;  a grandson, Houston Baker of Blossburg;  a brother, Raymond “Shine” (Carol) Ransom of Westfield;   two sisters-in-law, Waneta Ransom of Genesee and Doretta (Fernley) Leach of Cowanesque;  two brothers-in-law, Harvey Vallieres of Whitesville, NY and Drexel (Dorothy) Earl of Westfield;  nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by two sisters, Lois Vallieres and Betty McDonald;  and two brothers, John R. Ransom and Edgar B. Ransom.  

  A gathering to celebrate Cub’s life will be held Sunday, July 24, 2022 from 4:00 – 6:00 PM at the Home Comfort Restaurant.  Military Rites will be accorded by members of the Tioga County Honor Guard.  

  Memorials may be made to the Cowanesque United Methodist Church, c/o Valley Trinity Parish, P.O. Box 265, Westfield, PA 16950.
