Walter B. STURDEVANT, 78, of Bill Allen Hill Road, Wellsville, NY, died Monday, October 19, 2020 in his home following a brief illness.
Born March 20, 1942, in Wellsville, he was the son of Ross L. and Kathryn Reniff Sturdevant. A 1960 graduate of Wellsville High School, he was self-employed much of his working life. Walter enjoyed his outdoor work which included building pole barns, excavating, logging, operating his own sawmill he built, and tending oil fields in southern Allegany County.
Surviving are: a daughter, Deanna (Floyd) Scharf of Westfield, NY; a son, Ronald (Patty) Sturdevant of Wellsville, NY; two granddaughters; one grandson; five great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Keith Sturdevant and Larry Sturdevant. The family extends thanks to Mrs. Betty Moultrop for her support of Walter during his illness. Walter donated his body to science through the University of Buffalo and burial was in Knight’s Creek Cemetery, Scio, NY.
Family and friends are invited to a gathering to celebrate Walter’s life starting at 1:00 PM, Sunday, October 10, 2021 at Brookside Wesleyan Church, Wellsville, NY.
