Wayne A. HOLLISTER

July 13, 1938 — June 9, 2021

Wayne A. HOLLISTER, 82, of Little Genesee, NY, died Wednesday, June 9, 2021 in Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester.

Born July 13, 1938, in Hume, he was the son of Alfred L. and Lucy Elizabeth Closser Hollister.  He was a 1956 graduate of Bolivar Central School, where he participated in basketball and was an all-star in football and track.  Following high school, he enlisted in the US Army Reserves, serving for eight years.  He was employed by L.C. Whitford for many years. Wayne was a talented artist who studied under many well-known artists, specializing in oil paintings.  He designed and built his log home as well as stables and an enclosed show arena for the Arabian horses he loved and raised.

Surviving are:  a sister, Nancy Lewis of Wellsville;  a brother, Daniel Hollister of Wellsville;  two nephews, Scott Lewis of Wellsville and Craig (Sarah) Lewis of Webster;  two nieces, Lori (Karl) Vossler of Purcellville, VA and Kimberly (Daniel) Johnson of Wellsville;  a grandnephew, Sam Lewis of Webster;  two grandnieces, Megan Lewis of Webster and Elizabeth Vossler of Purcellville, VA;  and a first cousin, Joe Hollister of Bolivar.  In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Sheila Ann Hollister.

Friends may call at Olney-Foust Funeral Homes & Cremation, Crowell Chapel, 296 North Main Street, Wellsville, NY on Saturday, June 19, 2021 from 11:00 AM – 12:00 Noon.  A graveside service will follow at 1:00 PM in Riverside Cemetery, Belfast, with Rev. Dr. Stephen Crowell officiating.  Military Rites will be accorded at the grave.

Memorials may be made to the Bolivar Volunteer Fire Department.
