William N. MOYER

William N. “Bill” MOYER, 80, of Genesee, PA, died Thursday, August 12, 2021 in Williamsport Hospital.

Born May 8, 1941, in Bayamon, Puerto Rico, he was the son of Emma Negron and Guillermo Moya, Jr.  On June 26, 1980, in Cheltenham, he married the former Susan Okoorian, who survives.  Growing up in New York City, Bill was a graduate of the High School of Fashion Industries and he earned an associate’s degree from the City College of New York.  He was employed as a salesman by Kleiser Ford and Wellsville Ford in Wellsville, NY.  Bill was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Genesee, Trout Unlimited, the NRA, Hornellsville Masonic Lodge #44 in Hornell, NY, and the Valley of Corning.  He was passionate about Pennsylvania’s waterways and beautiful wilderness landscapes.  He especially loved fly fishing and spent many hours doing so.  A voracious reader and history scholar in his own right, he traveled the Northeast in pursuit of original historical texts and documents for decades.  He was the commander of the 18th Century Battle reenactment group, Robert’s Company of Riflemen which participated in numerous reenactments, rendezvous and bicentennial celebrations including Washington’s Crossing of the Delaware.

Surviving besides his wife, Susan, are:  three children, Lillian (Daniel) Cowburn of Coudersport, Jennifer (Greg) Watson of Trumansburg, NY, and B. William Moyer of Denver, CO;  four grandchildren;  three great-grandchildren;  sisters-in-law, Claire (Scot) Miller of Genesee and Joann Hale of Doylestown;  nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at Sacred Heart Church, Genesee, on Wednesday, August 18, 2021 from 10:00 – 11:00 AM, with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 11:00 AM.  The Rev. Joseph V. Dougherty will be the Celebrant.  Following the service, everyone attending is invited to join the family for light refreshments in the parish hall next door to the church.  Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Kinney.
